Spent one night in Evanston, WY and then on to Jackson, WY where we started to explore the Tetons.  Temperatures are in the 40’s at night and 80’s during the day.  The scenery has been beautiful.  Every house that you  see along the way has a travel trailer.  The Tetons just rise up all at once.  There are no foothills.  There are several lakes at the base of the mountains. We found one with people swimming in it.  There was a forest fire within 30 miles of the Tetons that made the news.

In Provo, UT today to fix the blow out.  Provo has all the shopping accommodations of home, WalMart, J C Penney, Cracker Barrel, etc.  J C Penney was the store of choice.

Too hot here; will move on to cooler climate tomorrow.

A prayer before undertaking a selection

Hope this fits

This is the one. Thank goodness the blowout is a thing of the past.

Spent two days at the next stop which was Bryce Canyon National Park. It was the opposite of Zion.  At Bryce you are looking down at the formations from above and at Zion you are looking up at the rock formations.  Hoodoos are the main attraction at Bryce.  They are rock formations formed when the surrounding surface is eroded away.  We went on a bus tour with a driver who was very informative about the park and also gave a dissertation on the life of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Temperature this am was 53.  There have been some showers. No longer have to run the AC at night.

There was one major blowout – my tennis shoes.  Was able to stay under control and not have an accident.  Nell kept saying that this event was going to happen. With the proper application of surgical tape it was possible to continue.  New shoes are at least 100 miles away from any type of shoe store.  I can hardly wait to go shopping!!!!!!!

Attended services at First Baptist Church, Page, Utah on Sunday. Sure did miss Willowbrook!   Relocated to Kanab, Utah on Monday and toured Zion National Park Monday pm and Tuesday. Words or photos cannot describe the gigantic beautiful rock structures that is Zion National Park. The forces of nature have done a tremendous job.

We are now in Page, AZ after visiting the 4 Corners area enroute.  The city of Page, AZ was established to accommodate the workers who were building the Glen Canyon Dam.  It did not exist before then.  The 4 Corners Monument is placed to identify the only place in the US where 4 states share a corner. The states are Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.

The Glen Canyon Dam was built to control the Colorado River watershed.  If interested in details go to http://www.usbr.gov/projects/Facility.jsp?fac_Name=Glen+Canyon+Dam.

Glen Canyon

Lake Powell was created by Glen Canyon Dam.  It stores water for use by numerous states and Mexico. The Grand Canyon is downstream from the dam; therefore water flow through Grand Canyon is controlled by this dam. Lake Powell is now 17 feet below normal stage for this time of year.  They are looking forward to the end to the drought and major snow in the mountains this winter.

The bridge over Glen Canyon was built to accommodate the construction.  Before the bridge was open, it was 200 miles from one side of the canyon to the other. After, it was 15 minutes to go from one side to the other.
